Improve Thyself

Doing Something Meaningful

##A Bug Bit Me Spent an entire day today tweaking and playing with technology

  1. Used a Docker instance of Webtrees, a genealogy-based open source system.

  2. Installed it on Raspberry Pi and configured connectivity via Tailscale VPN.

  3. Got the internal LAN connectivity to work through Net.

  4. Did a bit of updating the database.

  5. As usual, the old man has a better solution, which works perfectly and nothing else comes close to it.

  6. I realised that it's a labour of love and need to do it for my own sake. Not to impress anybody.

  7. All the above compressed at day's work and left out the irritating bits of trial and error, experimenting with docker, skipping MySQL and opting for SQLite db and other nity gritty.

  8. In the meanwhile, the world moves on and we need to find out place and the right thing to do, as we please.

  9. None of it makes sense, but I got a real kick from it, and loved every minute of it. Some future plans for the website:

(a) Need to host it in the cloud for allowing access to more folks.

(b) Need to keep it updated, and add relevant and useful information. How much back can you go in time, and what level of granularity can you capture.

© The neighbour is ranting as usual. Her shrieking and squeaky pitch is always on the background. I pity the poor husband and son and mil. They must be rueing their decision of the strangeness of their relationship.

Before we start acting holier-than-thou, please keep the head and mind balanced and stop dreaming. Adios amigos. And see you soon again.
