Reading The Cybersecurity Canon: A Quest for Knowledge and probably a bit of wisdom

Beginner Steps

I have a quaint notion that knowledge has been distilled and stored in books. Books wait for us, infinitely, to take the time and read its contents.

Another opinion I have, is that books a probably one of the most reliable sources of knowledge. In the age of ChatGpt, we are often flooded with more information that what we can assimilate. Books again have the advantage of providing information at a rate what can be more easily consumed assimilated.

What better way than to embark on a quest for knowledge, in the cyber security domain.

The vast number of books available make it difficult to start. Instead of re-inventing the wheel, in searching for an elusive body of knowledge to read up, I intend following the Cybersecurity Canon.

The canon has evolved over more than a decade and the candidate books peer-reviewed by some of the best in the industry. My plan it to read the books listed in the canon and by following this well established tradition is to gain knowledge and hopefully a bit of the wisdomw imparted by the stalwarts.

A shorter TLDR; path for those who are in a hurry and prefer a pre-digested format, is to read the book reviews.
